Jaden Fong | A Poem About Late July Rain

A Poem About Late July Rain

A storm explodes in the sky, and clouds
flash against the windows of a plane

like lightning striking a cow in the yard.
The crow does not notice the thunder,

nor understand the smoke on the farm ––
it notices only that its mother’s feathers

are falling and that it can now drink
from the telephone lines.
