Liam Strong | fever daydream

fever daydream

while the saucepan gargled steam into my apartment,

your method of humidifying the dry throat of winter,
i ate acetaminophen for dinner. the Christmas tree

with Hanukkah ornaments on the end table

like a quilt smothered in sleet.
air loosens. squirrels asleep in the attic.

between the dust of my stasis & the water

rising to a yeast of bubble, i swore your bare leg
was next to mine & the smell of summer

unclogged my breath.
