Artist’s Statement:
“These paintings are a reflection of the kaleidoscopic emotions that life throws at me – from the sunny sunshine kisses to the deep, mysterious hues of soul-searching. I gravitate towards bright and vibrant colours using strong strokes to create the fantastical world which exists in my imagination.
Creating these art pieces is a form of escapism for me, like an invitation to break free from the mundane routines of life, and embark on a magical journey where colours speak louder than words. A bleed between reality and fantasy. A portal into a new world.”

Lexy Johnson (she/her) is a Malaysian emerging illustrator. Her art appeared in the Artscape Malaysia Exhibition in 2022 and Sunway’s Emerge Exhibition in 2023. She enjoys playing around with colours and her illustrations tend to lean toward the abstract, colourful—almost always whimsical!
